Sharmila Jayaram, IACP-CDT

Sharmila is an IACP Certified Dog Trainer and has more than 8 years of experience working in dog training, behaviour modification and rehabilitation. She has trained more than 200 dogs across breed categories and has a special soft spot for working dogs.

After graduating from B.School and working as a Project Manager for three years in a leading Technology company, Sharmila finally decided to take a leap of faith and pursue her love for working with dogs.

In 2015, under the mentorship of Jagannathan Rangarajan IACP-CDT, CDTA, PDTI, she became a lead trainer at Woodstock Dog Training School. During this time, Sharmila worked with many dogs, some with unique behavioural problems. The techniques she learned allowed her to focus on building trust, leadership, and a balanced relationship with the dog.

In 2018, she moved to Toronto where she now lives with her husband and 6 year old Doberman.

Sandeep

Sandeep Mishra

Sandeep has been part of Wagabond since inception. As an expert handler, Sandeep has worked with several working breeds. His balanced and creative approach to dog training lend a sense of excitement and adventure to the team.

In 2016, Sandeep led the rescue and rehabilitation of a doberman who was severely neglected. His efforts helped the Dobe build trust, understand boundaries and become a more confident dog.

His career defining achievement has been getting Maya the doberman to imprint on him. The pair are inseparable, and are usually found doing ridiculous agility exercises in the neighbourhood.

He has since lost the moustache.

Maya

Maya is a 4-year old Doberman whose sole purpose in life is to test the limits of her agility. When she is not sleeping or eating, she can be found scaling any elevated structure in Leaside, and has mastered the subtle art of sniffing out squirrels, racoons, and skunks.

Her relentless pursuit of play brings an unlimited supply of energy to our pack. Come snow or shine, Maya is always ready to brave the Canadian elements. As the only maverick on the team, she holds the record for besting two skunks at a time and shrugging off the odour much to the dismay of her handlers.

With her finely toned muscles, and super dense bone structure, she may appear to be menacing to the uninitiated. To her surprise, our toddler thinks nothing of it.

Whiskey (R.I.P)

As the oldest member of Wagabond, Whiskey was the calmest paw in the group. She gave the team the confidence to venture into the world of dog training. Her balanced energy and remarkably good looks were instrumental in building the confidence of many of our furry friends.

With an attitude rivalling that of any pop star, she always played hard to get. An expert swimmer, with no love for fetch.

She is deeply loved, and fondly remembered.
